There’s some percentage of people in this world that love their careers (and their lives) as they are.
That’s amazing — I applaud those folks.
But I’m not speaking to those “satisfied” people.
I’m speaking to those who feel:
If this is you, you’ve likely normalized mediocrity (not intentionally).
And the consequences are devastating if you don’t course-correct.
You’ve subconsciously chosen to follow the “mediocre” crowd…for two reasons.
1. You adopt crowd-like behavior because “it’s sensible”
Maybe you’re juggling ALL the responsibilities: spouse, kids, mortgage, inflated lifestyle.
So you suck it up at a job you hate and give away all your time for incremental reward (while denying your dream).
2. You’ve chosen mediocrity because that’s all you’ve been exposed to
We don’t know what we don’t know.
How could your brain want something it’s unaware of?
Our default is to walk in the footsteps of those who’ve come before us.
And where is the typical destination? Mediocre-ville.
Some signals I’ve seen from my clients:
Feeling this way too?
It means you must take action.
Pains only compound.
Regrets only get worse.
“Freedom” only fades away.
Listen, mediocrity is a choice — your choice.
But you have another choice: remarkable.
A remarkable life is one of your own design.
But don’t expect to figure it out on your own.
Remember: you don’t know what you don’t know.
You must unlock from your current environment and situate among people and ideas that inspire, energize, and (even) scare you.
You do this by putting real skin in the game — ensuring your mind craves “remarkable,” not “mediocre.”
Let’s stop normalizing mediocrity.
You were born to live a remarkable life.
